Matt Supan, at three years old, was the best friend a mechanic could ever have. At the quartermidget track in Denver, Colorado - he was everyone's helper. He couldn't wait for his chance to strap in and become the driver. At age 6; he got his chance. His first Novice Year he was the alternate for the 'A Main at the 1992 Western Grands in Madera, California.

Matt was never the type of driver that just showed up at the track. He was always in on the preparation that it took to get the car to the race event. It was always about Team Work. He won his first Grand National Championship at the age of 9 years old.

At 13 years old, he began working for Advanced Automotive preparing Honda Engines for Quarter Midget racers and working in the Honda Automotive Repair
Garage.

At 15, he took a Honda 160 Engine and borrowed a car offered by Bob Nervo of the NC Chassis Company, to run the Western Grands in Madera, CA. By the 2nd National event, (across the country in PA), he had acquired 2 sponsors (BullRider RaceCars and Blaine Zickefoose) to run in the Heavy 'B Class. There he also garnered another ride in the Joann sponsored Senior Honda Class.

At 16, he was loaned a car and an Engine by Hansen Racing Products. Together with that car and one 'AA Engine, he left for the Nationals, less a Handler. He qualified 4th and won the Eastern Grands Heavy 'AA Main Event in Topeka, KS.

Matt ran Quarter Midget Race Cars from the time he was 6 years old until his retirement at 16. During that time, he won many races, held titles at both the local and regional levels and earned numerous Fast Time Awards. He earned the status of Grand National Champion 7 times.

Matt attended D'Evelyn Senior High winning top honors for Football to include -
Metro 12 Football All Conference Defense Back 2002, 2003, 2004 as well as
All Conference Wide Receiver 2002, 2003 and
Most Valuable Player - Defense Back - 2002, 2003.

2003 - Matt worked for Stealth MotorSports (Indianapolis) testing and in the shop for the summer. He also was very fortunate to have the total sponsorship of a Bailey Chassis Micro Sprint Race Car by Blake and Shane Hollingsworth. He ran many events at Camden, Logansport and Kokomo Tracks with at least 10 top 5 finishes and 15 top 10's.
He lived with Tracy and Christa Hines and worked for Tracy on his USAC Sprint, Midget, and Silver Crown Teams.

-Matt worked as a mechanic on RMMRA No 71 Midget - driver Keith Rauch.

-Matt worked as a mechanic on 7th place finisher of the 2004 Chili Bowl Nationals Midget - driver Danny Stratton.

In 2004, Matt built a Stealth Chassis with a Ford Focus Engine. He was the only Ford Focus that ran a few shows with the RMMRA (Colorado) competing against Midget power plants. He earned a 5th place finish at the last event ever held at Rocky Mountain Speedway.

2004 - In the fall of 2004, Matt attended Tri-State University in Angola, IN to study Mechanical Engineering while playing Football.

2005 - Early 2005, Matt decided to return to Colorado to attend college locally. In addition to school, he became a Certified Welder while working for Codi Manufacturing as well as ATS Diesel Performance.

2006 - the Present: Matt currently is attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, pursing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

When Matt became a student at UNC - he also began logging laps at many Speedways as a Driver Instructor for the "Richard Petty Driving Experience" in 2006. In addition, he works with the Mercedes Program, as well as the Dodge SRT Program.
He travels most weekends of the summer, with these programs. Matt is no stranger to travel since he grew up traveling to races, then racing Quarter Midgets and later, helping with the family publishing business. For many years, when he wanted to be behind the wheel, you would see him at west coast venues working in the pits for other drivers as well as distributing the family news print publications - Speed Media News and Coast 2 Coast Racing News. Matt also co-owns the website QuarterMidgets.com

2006 - Matt ran a few USAC Ford Focus events with his Stealth Combo Car in the Carolina Series on pavement with the help of Kenny Hendrick.

2007 - Matt had the opportunity to run the Brad Noffsinger Sponsored Ford Focus Car in the Carolina Series earning a 6th place finish.

In his spare time, Matt and his brother AJ, are renovating their first home in Concord, NC. He is currently building a Ford Focus Pavement Midget to run in the Carolina Series.
